Cinnabar moth caterpillar (Tyria jacobaeae)

I spotted this caterpillar in the back garden chomping on the ragwort which has spread madly this summer. It is a plant that is poisonous to some animals , such as horses, but they aren't likely to be in the garden. I'm a bit worried about how quickly it can spread.

But the flowers are bright and these caterpillars seem to like it. That means we're going to have more cinnabar moths which is a good thing. I blipped this one  a couple of years ago, so you can see what they look like.
