Walsham Gates

I needed some petrol in advance of a day out tomorrow to collect a new lens (excited!), so it was a good excuse to make a slight detour for a walk along the River Wey and Wey Navigations.

Unlike the Basingstoke Canal visited earlier in the week, these navigations are full of water and was gushing over the Ripley Weir with some force. The nearby Walsham Gates, with its 17th century lock cottage and grass banked lock, was delightfully calm and gives my image for today’s W I D E Wednesday challenge of house.
