Sgwarnog: In the Field

By sgwarnog

Plethora

I’m making the most of the plethora of Holly Blue butterflies.

It is a good year for them, but their populations fluctuate on something like a four year cycle (linked to a parasitic wasp) so we should expect a crash over the next couple of years.

There was a greater variety of dragonflies at Red Brick Dam today, including Common Blue damselfly, Brown Hawker, Common Darter and another hawker.

Roe Deer and Buzzard also seen.
