The second half of life..

By twigs

Autumn v winter

There are still heaps of leaves around, quite a few of which were in my gutters.  I became aware of this as the forecast heavy rain let rip and I watched and listened to a torrent of water spilling over the guttering.  Nothing that a quick trip out onto the front roof wouldn't cure (which isn't as dangerous as you may think.  No climbing and no ladders involved at all!)  This rogue leaf had decided that life was better on the back deck.  I thanked him for not clogging up the gutters.

Elsewhere around Nelson it seems that the rains have been w-a-y heavier and more persistent that we've had south of the city.  The Maitai River which runs through town has burst its banks and more than 200 homes have been evacuated.  In the light of an even worse forecast for tomorrow one of the Colleges in town has made the early call to tell students to stay home.  Sure do hope my gutters hold up if the worse weather makes it way here.  Fingers crossed.
