The second half of life..

Muscovy Love

The rain has continued.......and continued, and continued some more.  On the south side of town we have been spared the worst.......just heaps of water, flowing streams along the road gutters, the occasional popped sewer lid, a constant stream running down driveways, unexpected 'pools' around the garden borders and even a wee pond developing in the middle of the lawn.  But we've been lucky.  On the north side of town where the heart of the weather bomb hit land there has been major flooding and land slips; a blocked culvert redirected water along a new-ish road which was subsequently almost totally gouged out by the force and volume of water.......almost no road remaining, only a deep, muddy mess.  In Tahuna a whole house has slipped down the hill into a gully and around town, over 300 homes have been evacuated.  Schools throughout the area were closed today as were many roads.  It's a mess, and whilst I feel thankful not to have been affected, my heart goes out to the dozens whose lives have been turned on their heads.  And the bad news - more is expected tomorrow.

I stayed put most of the day only venturing out to get some groceries and some milk.  Forgetting the milk bottles at home meant the latter is deferred until tomorrow, but the wasted trip did produce this image.  Clearly Mr Muscovy had other things besides heavy rain on his mind!
