FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLE BEE

Thank you all so much for your comments and wishes on our Wedding Anniversary yesterday..  They are very much appreciated and loved.  We had  a lovely quiet day together, followed by a lovely evening at Bangkok 7 Thai Restaurant in Kendal.

It felt strange driving into Kendal ecause we had no hold ups at all, we sailed straight through.  We parked by the library, expecting that area to be empty but it was over half full, of people parking there overnight by the looks of it.  Still we parked OK.

Bangkok 7 was excellent.  The service, food and surroundings were great.  When we arrived at 7.45 (15 mins early) our table was ready and apart from one other family upstairs we were the only ones there.  However this quickly changed becaused by 7.30 it was beginning to fill up and by 8 it was busy.

Bangkok 7 in Kendal is on two floors.  As you go in off the street there are two rows of about 8 tables either side of the walkway, these were fairly full but I believe that is used just for drop ins.  Then you go up to a mezzaine floor, we were greeted at the foot of the stairs.  This is where the bar area is.  Then you go up one flight of a very wide stairs.

The second floor is split into three sections.  To the left is a slightly raised area with a couple of larger tables and where the facility is situated.  As you turn right at the top of the stairs there are about about 8 tables either side of  the walkway - to the right 4 seaters to the left 2 seaters.  Then you come the area we were in which is in a sort of square around beautiful light fitting overlooking the restaurant below.

All areas were beautifuly decorated.  Service was prompt and friendly.  The food was excellent.  I just loved their light fittings, I couldn't keep my eyes of them.  Not that I want one, as it would look so wrong but they were perfect in this setting.

We did have starters - me a small one, Hubby is favourite whitebate, and shared a platter of prawn crackers (we thought it was going to be just a handfull but it was HUGE).  For our main we both opted for a stir fry each (to tray and keep away from the deep friend foods) sharing rice and noodles.  We then made the mistake of having desserts, simply because we were out of an evening, together on our anniversary.

The only reason it was a mistake is because we couldn't really manage it all, even though I only had a light one.

A fabulous evening and one we will go back to, probably take G there when he comes down in September.

Unfortunately this all meant that I didn't get a good nights sleep.  One because I got leg cramp so had to get up and walk around the place, then of course I was awak and still felt stuffed so did loads of steps around the lounge to walk some of it off, watched a couple of episodes of The Golden Girls and then eventually managed to nod off.

I haven't done much today as I'm too tired.  I did pop into the garden though and managed to catch this Bumble just about landing, not too bad a photo.
