The Cat & Fiddle

To appreciate the text, you must view this image LARGE.

Many of you may hear about the Cat & Fiddle during travel bulletins in Winter, but have no idea where or what is! It is on the A537 between Macclesfield & Buxton.

The Cat & Fiddle is at an elevation of 1,690 feet making it the second highest pub in the country. I can't imagine wanting to go there really. The pub can be seen with a communication mast nearby in the left of the blip.

To the right of the pub, is Shining Tor, The highest point in Cheshire which forms the Southern end of a ridge that runs above the west side of the Goyt Valley.

The clouds really bring this image to life. I would have liked to have blipped this as a sunset, which tonight could be stunning, but I blipped a sunset yesterday, so today you have a brooding cloud instead.
