Salt

The Ile de Ré is famed among other things for its salt. Produced in traditional seawater evaporating beds the growers sit in their shacks and occasionally get round to sweeping it into heaps for bagging up and selling at high prices, But it's worth getting a small pack to take home.

Today cycling up the middle of the island there was this traditional shed by one of the beds. Or was it a stage set to fool us tourists?

Whatever, I shall be buying a small pack to take home for the kitchen.
