Tick The Tower

Continuing my Little Bike In The Big City series, here's Tower Bridge. This was about 12 noon as I pedalled from Aldgate to Vauxhall for yet more meetings. The weather today was glorious and a real treat to be out, rushing from office to office. The fact that I'm quicker than any other form of transport creates a lot of interest, and like taking the train to London rather than the plane, it would be nice if I changed behaviour. I doubt it though - when my boss was phoning a taxi I said,
"We could cycle."
"Well, I don't have a Boris Bike key."
"I do. I'll rent you a bike."
"Ah... Well, cycling in a suit won't do."
"That's an excuse."
"Yes, it is. Maybe next time."
Hmm.

I was at the meeting on time. He was 25 minutes late. I had fun. He didn't.

Later on, I rode up to City Road to meet a friend for beers and ended up on the roofgarden of a little pub, drinking real ales I've never heard of. They're always the best ones :)

About 25 miles on the bike today by the time I rolled up at the hotel.

I got in the hotel lift with a Scottish lady - we clocked each other's accents. The lift music was very, very lift music. She laughed - "That's a bit cheesy!" "You wouldn't hear that in any other circumstance," I replied. "Well," she said, "maybe in a really bad porn film!" Hahaha :) We swapped plumber and u-bend scenarios for the next few seconds. And that was that. Heh.

Thus ends another fun-filled day.
