Summer's end

The last Sunday lunch of the season. There was a good turnout, for a menu of melon with Muscat, steak with ratatouille, cheese, and ice cream. I may have to revise my ideas on ratatouille, because Brigitte's simmer-for-five-hours version was delicious, rich and concentrated in flavour.

My stamina was a bit lacking in the hot weather (30C in the shade), so I retreated for a siesta at about 3 pm -- other people stayed longer, but it was all wrapped up by 7 pm. That's it till next July! And just a few swims left before the pool closes.
