Floating Gardens, and much more.

This is part of “Dandelion Project” commissioned by Event Scotland and funded via the Scottish Government and a couple of dozen partner organisations. The project is driven by the concept of ‘Sow, Grow, Share’ – not just food but ideas, music, knowledge and community. It’s quite a creative programme, combining growing, science, art and music, and the power of collective action. The barge (biomatrix floating ecosystem!) has been touring the Scottish Canal network since June. It is about the joys of growing and looking after plants, whether it be potatoes and other vegetables, cultivating herbs…. or sowing first seeds in some tupperware in a flat etc. The barge had flower and veg beds, tomatoes in a poly tunnel; another smaller one behind had fruit trees and grasses. Visitors have a chance to pick up some free, easy growing plants, hopefully to kickstart their growing journey. I understand that at each venue a flower singer will “come alive”, singing harvest songs, performing and so on. Other Dandelion programme events have been held across Scotland - from remote islands to towns and the centre of cities, as well as online (to assist with inclusion). Many schools were previously involved.
