Rowan Stavanger

13.9C and bright. Hardly a cloud. Some breeze.

Apothecary7's day off. An early trip to M&S at City Quay Dundee for coffee and a little grocery shopping. Returned home via Broughty Ferry. We had a walk round there and photos were taken. Back home later than usual for lunch.

After lunch we went for our walk with Maeve the Deerhound. In the field with the bridle path we stopped for a moment or two to watch the farmer ploughing and harrowing all in one go with both implements attached to the rear of his red tractor. He was working in the small area at the top of the field that had bales of straw left on it until recently. The rest of the field has been planted with grain.

Walking down the field towards the sea we could see the rig Rowan Stavanger being towed towards Dundee with its little gaggle of tugs surrounding it. I took a couple of shots.

When we reached the beach at Westhaven, via the road bridge over the railway, we could still see the rig although it seemed further away due to us being right down at sea level. I took a couple of shots. You might also notice the owner of 'Valhalla VI' rowing in towards shore. He had just moored his fishing boat and was bringing his catch ashore.

The blip was taken at the back of the beach with a little zoom. The shot with no zoom looked like a panorama and the rig was tiny on the horizon. Maeve, in her role of photographer's assistant, helped me decide which one we liked best :-)

We had another look at the newly upright boat at the back of the beach. Maeve tells me that she has an idea for tomorrow ...
