Turnstone

One of a flock squabbling along the shoreline. I could have cropped it in closer but I wanted to show the lovely clear water of Pierowall Bay behind the bird.

We had a delightful meal of Westray crab and haddock last night. There were a good few people in to eat and some were staying at the hotel. I think it only has four rooms. Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes.

Today is still cloudy but as still as it ever gets here. Nothing is moving on the water and even the wind turbines are barely turning. We had a good walk round the back of the village ending up at the cafe for coffee and a small something. Cameraman had dropped his hat on the walk so set back to retrace his steps. Flora and I made our way back to the village picking up a couple of bits of beach pottery on the way. And a blip of the turnstone. Cameraman found his hat on the track we'd walked.

It feels as if it's going to be a slow day and, because we have a longer than usual stay here, this suits me fine. Normally I'd be trying to schedule all the things we like to do into our week. This holiday a day of downtime is permissible! And there is always the hot tub...
