Radioactive

Early start today to drive up to the GICC for Gs PET [Positron Emission Tomography] Scan. This is something that HAS to be done 6 months after completing chemo therapy. It tells doctors if everything is functioning OK at cellular level! I wanted to put a Neon effect on this image but it looked too daft, so here you have G as she looks now - hair and all!

Anyway, G got there and was injected with a radioactive tracer which is administered with glucose and to prevent it getting into the muscles, she had to lie absolutely still for an hour whilst it travelled to everywhere it needs. The scan itself only took 30 minutes and she was told the radioactive dye would be out of her body in 6 hours. Poor thing had to stop eating at midnight the night before, so by noon was really quite hungry and beginning to develop a headache.

Came home via the cemetery (visited my Dad's grave) as it is that end of town.

The other big thing of note that happened today was G cooking a pilau rice with chick peas! Something my Dad always made for me that I haven't had in the last two years! It was GOOD! :))

PS. Read a VERY interesting book called "An Atlas of Osteoporosis" whilst I waited. Fascinating.
