Henry the Weighth

This beautiful fabric collage was made by a member of the group that uses the studio next to the one I attend in Guildford. The maker had recently been on a visit to Hampton Court and had been inspired by the stories that they were told about the lives and wives of Henry the Eighth. She had been particularly taken with a visit to the Palace kitchens where 200 cooks were employed. Apparently it was not uncommon for Henry to indulge in meals with thirty five separate courses. No small wonder he was so portly.
