One Cause Of Flooding

Another day of guiding at Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse.

Despite the rainy weather there were a goodly number of visitors and many interesting questions were asked and hopefully answered.

The rain gradually eased and the clouds passed to reveal blue skies.

The extra shows the portrait of Mrs Sharp which hangs in the dining room above the fireplace. I had always considered her expression to be disdainful, but, having corrected the perspective her expression appears to be enigmatic.

The portrait was painted in 1907 when Mrs Sharp visited Florence with her son, Hugh on a ‘grand tour’.

The artist was an American called Julius Rolshaven.

To the main photo. This is the roadside drain nearby our place. It has become a plant container. This is fairly typical of many of the roads in Scotland and I would suggest the DUK.

The drain has ceased to function and in parts of the road water gathers in puddles which can stretch across the complete road width.

In other areas the water will run like a burn across the road. All something of a hazard.

To the best of my recollection these drains have become a consequence of Covid and have not been emptied in at least two years.

Maintaining these drains is the responsibility of the regional council.

Will they be unblocked before winter?
