Web Spinning

It's spider season. It's strange but I don't remember ever seeing a spider making its web before. I think they usually make their webs at night. Maybe this one was working during the day because we had a big electric storm last night and the night before. I watched as this garden cross spider made the spiral line of its web with silk produced by its flagelliform gland. Spiders have six spinnerets in pairs which are connected by spigots to between four and six silk glands. They produce different types of silk for different purposes.
