Outta Chester

We started with a walk around the basin. Opposite our mooring the Dee branch is lower and used for moorings - it used to drop the canal down to meet the river but the bottom lock isn't in use. In the blip we're moored closest to the camera on the left.
Then we climbed the Northgate staircase and headed out. We passed a team of police divers getting ready to go into the cut. They held up a boat behind us by half an hour but they caught up while we were in Waitrose so we worked the next four locks together, much easier.
We stopped at the Cheshire Cat for a superb lunch and a few beers. The plan was to crack on for a couple of hours but a storm hit as we got back to the boat so we're still moored a few hundred yards from a brilliant pub...
