A Day In The Life

Backyard Beauty

It was great to see the sun again after a couple of dismal, but much needed, rainy days. I deadheaded enough flowers to fill up two small buckets for MrsP to compost. I also got a closer view of all the feasting that’s been going on at night in the garden. The dear deer are decimating the scarlet runner beans and chard, the little buggers. Knowing it’s nearing the end of the growing season we’re maintaining a it-is-what-it-is attitude, but it isn’t always easy. All we have left to harvest are potatoes, tomatoes and leeks • It appears we have two hummers now, a female and a juvenile. Apparently the adult males are already heading south to Massachusetts for a pitstop at justbe’s feeder; the female will soon follow • We were pleased to see this female monarch again filling up on nectar for her pending 3,000 mile journey • Nature is remarkable! • Enjoy your day!
