Upriver

It's been a bit of a gloomy rainy day interspersed with a few sunny spells and a lovely rainbow on one occasion.

I went out to the west of the village where a lane runs down towards the main road. There's a view towards Shaldon Bridge but you can also see up the river to the Teign bridge and Newton Abbot. That's the view I chose because it's very hazy (probably rain) but this way we have a herd of belties in the field to add a little interest.

News came out of Buckingham Palace this morning that there were concerns over the Queen's health. It's no surprise to most of us, after all she is 96 years old. Our TVs have been dominated today by news people wearing black ties speculating and padding out the same scant information in the absence of any fresh news.  The senior members of the Royal family have travelled to Balmoral to be with her and all we can do is wait for further news.

Edit: We've just heard the news at 6.30 pm of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning British monarch. She apparently died peacefully in her sleep. May she rest in peace.
