Autumn Crocus ( Colchicum autumnale )

A dam pwander round Kanyl's garden between showers.  The Autumn Crocus caught my eye.  I think it was the way the rain drops were lying on the petals.

Despite the common name Colchicum aren't croci it is only the resemblance of the flower to a crocus that gives the name.  Colchicum are toxic however a drug used to treat gout and Mediterranean fever is made from the corm.
