Comfy concrete sofa

Comfy? Maybe not so much, but this is the title of another local piece of public sculpture, this one being only a few minutes' walk from our house, the other side of our local park.
It is a little piece of local history, having been commissioned in 1998 after the huge  1960s Kelvin Flats complex nearby was demolished, paving the way for landscaping and for some new low-rise housing too. The sofa was made by Ross Gilbertson, working with a local youth group. I like its tongue-in-cheek title. 
Originally you could sit on the sofa and look out over the Don Valley below. The trees have grown a bit in 20+ years, so nowadays that's only possible in winter.
Often the little sofa is engulfed in long grass and sprouting saplings; today I had to clear away all that, plus a little pile of fly-tipped rubbish, before taking any photos. Although there's an information board nearby locating the sofa as part of a history trail in the area, I think that most evidence of that original trail has faded away now. However, more cheerfully,  I learn from our local Labour councillor that there are plans for a new Arts trail in the area, with some work being commissioned at the moment. So the sofa may yet get a new lease of life.
My sculpture obsession will be coming to an end soon, with Monday's deadline for uploads to the local project website. And my blips might become a bit more diverse again :-)
