Home grown

A dull day today and I've stayed at home, doing some weeding, watering and 'office work', and cleaning and hoovering the house ready for Mrs M's return!! Unfortunately just before lunch the water went off - yet another Burst Water Main, in the town of BWMs! They'll be another report at 6pm! Very annoying - it happens quite often.

When Mrs M came back we watched the cavalcade escorting the Queen's coffin down through Scotland to Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh, where it will stay overnight before being flown south in the morning.

Bit of an emergency Blip then - I bought a couple of these hanging baskets of tomatoes - one at the full price of £8, another at the knock-down price of £1. It pays to wait! The runner beans are extras grown from last year's tubers. When planting out my plants this spring I found that many of the tubers had survived the winter, so potted them and then planted them out in a tub with a cone of canes. Once the beans had formed I was amazed at just how quickly they grew - you could easily see the difference every day. I must go back to the Walled Garden to see how my beans are doing there - I haven't been down for more than a week.
