A smoky Twinsday

I was delighted to learn that Manda and Andrew were bringing the twins to family dinner after all. They arrived bringing two potty chairs, as the boys were in the middle of learning to use them.  Sam had gotten the idea quickly and was now able to say he needed to go in time for him to be put on the pot.  Max was having a much more difficult time of it, but since Max is always more cautious about things, that came as no surprise. They enjoyed playing and having the "Toilet Book" read to them, first by Lex (Extra) and then by me.  Nick had made a wonderful chocolate cake for Doug's birthday celebration and we all hope that he will make that one again in the future.

The heavy smoke still in the atmosphere turned the whole Western sky red; this drama is what I saw on my drive home.  Tomorrow the smoke is supposed to clear away and we will have cooler weather and fresher air as the week goes on.
