Another Historic Day

Another historic day in London and Edinburgh. This morning King Charles addressed both Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall. If you’ve never done a tour of the Houses of Parliament, I’d strongly recommend it. The building is magnificent, and I had not really understood the layout’s  significance in how we’re governed until I did the tour. It also included Westminster Hall with its amazing hammer-beam roof. The hall was built in 1097 under William the Conqueror, the current roof was commissioned in 1393 and is the largest medieval timber roof in Northern Europe.

The King and Queen Consort then flew to Edinburgh. It was moving watching Queen Elizabeth’s children walking behind her coffin on its journey from Holyroodhouse to St, Giles Cathedral for the service of remembrance. It was good to see the large crowds too. Another moving sight this evening as Queen Elizabeth’s children stood for a ten minute vigil around her coffin, whilst the public continued to file by and pay their respects.
