Birmingham

We took the train to Birmingham today.  I had read about the forest-garden that had sprung up in the city centre, Victoria Square - see https://visitbirmingham.com/whats-on/polinations-p1407551.

We stopped off at Pret for a coffee first on arrival then walked over to Victoria Square.  The whole place has been taken over and planted with trees, plants, flowers and giant artificial 'trees' which are rain catches.  It's very difficult to explain, it really needs to be visited to take in the scope of the project.  Unfortunately it is due to finish on 18th September. There were a lot of people there, but it didn't feel as crowded as when we visited during the Commonwealth Games.  We took a look at Centenary Square too, the bull is still there!

After a while we went into the Museum and Art Gallery and had a sandwich in the Edwardian Tea Rooms and looked at their latest exhibition on cinema in Birmingham bringing back memories of the Saturday Matinees, 6d downstairs, 9d upstairs.

Then another look round the gardens and back to Snow Hill for the train.

The extra I've added made me smile. I've never seen a horse play the keyboard!
