Grabbing a Meal

It was a very early start to the day being picked up at 5.45 am for a group visit to Richmond Park.  We hoped the deer would be rutting or, at least, looking interesting and being around.  After yesterday's sun, today's light was as flat as the proverbial pancake, and there were very few deer within decent reach of a lens!  One exciting moment was a heron diving for its breakfast.
At this point, we all decided to head back to the cafe for a bacon butty!

Although the visit was not satisfactory for photography, we enjoyed the walk (not the early start) and being with other camera club members.  It's the sort of event where you can't guarantee success - animals wander where they will.
