Walk

After a good PhD supervision meeting with J, I turned up at a meeting presenting the "support services" to the new students - but only 1/5 of the students were there. Later in the afternoon, I helped to lead a walk for the new MSc students. From King's Buildings it's a fairly easy walk up Blackford Hill, and the students appreciated the views over Edinburgh. It also gave me the chance to chat to a few more of the new students. Entertainment was provided by the dog of one of our administrators. I'd thought of bringing Django, but he'd have had to spend the day in my office. I was surprised to hear that it would have been OK as a one-off, showing that some stuffy rules are being relaxed.
