A Day In The Life

Potato Power

A forecast of five consecutive days of showers or rain, starting tomorrow, abruptly changed our plans for the day. After letting our potatoes dry for two weeks we thought we had several days to harvest them but after seeing the new forecast this morning we decided to harvest the remaining ten bags. A mix of fingerlings, reds and whites - with the exception of some of the reds they looked great! All are put away now in paper bags, in a dark space, to cure for storage. MrsP commented “the babies have been put to bed” • Why do you think Farmer MrsP can’t keep secrets here in our blissful garden? My guess, it’s because the corn has ears, the potatoes have eyes and the beans stalk • Thankfully we didn’t experience the first frost last night, and what a beautiful day it turned out to be. Sunshine with temps in the 60s. I hope we have lots more on tap before it begins to feel really chilly. We’re not quite ready for jacket weather • Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
