It's Silly Saturday, Ma'am!

Born in the year of the Coronation, I still have my Coronation Mug. This one, though, was given to me in 1977 on the occasion of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Since then, of course, we've enjoyed her gold and platinum jubilees. But I'm fond of this tongue-in-cheek tribute to Her Majesty - and it seemed fitting for this Silly Saturday that coincides with the Queen's coffin lying in state until her funeral on Monday.

Had a productive day in the garden in today's cool sunshine. Found tightly-packed mushrooms on the lawn beside a fairy ring of fungi, and a broken branch on the small pear tree, laden with little pears. More fruit to deal with! (I shouldn't complain.) Fear their weight broke the branch, unless there was also a strong gust of wind while we were away.

Back and forth between our house and our daughter's as Family B are away for the weekend, and the feathered and finned must be fended for and fed. And so life goes on ...
