Ship

The start of the day picked up where the end of the preceding evening left off with a return walk into town to soak up some of the Torchlight festivities.

There was a funky brass band, a ukulele mob playing that same song that they all play and various stalls and things located under gazebos. The weather had been generous to the organisers and participants, so there were plenty of us audience members milling around and soaking up the atmosphere. LadyV even scored some candy floss from Helen and Gas manning Elisha’s Sweet Treats stall. The small piece I was allowed was quite delicious.

I’m amazed she had any room as we’d not long since finished a delicious brunch at Comida, which included churros for pudding. Somehow we waddled back to mine so I could pack an overnight bag and then headed down to Heysham whereupon we continued our waddling campaign along the prom for a drink at the Half Moon Bay Cafe located adjacent to the power station.

On our way there we passed this sculpture simply called ‘Ship’ which I was rather taken with (you can see it more clearly in the extra) and we discussed possible meanings of it. I quite like the empty vessel theory and we wondered if there was something in the fact that you could see through both forms mounted on the bow.

We waddled back to LadyV’s for a nap, except we didn’t as she had never seen Point Break and there is no way you can nap during that film (it really is “100% Pure Adrenaline”.

Later that evening, as part of a small but select band of invitees we had a lovely Italian (yay….more food…..) meal as part of her friends 40th birthday party. We think that the rest of the attendees went on after to a karaoke bar and good luck to them, but the day's events had caught up with us and we returned to LadyV’s manor and collapsed into bed fat and happy.
