Leaky Dams

Friend Sue told us she had been grafting in the wood at the end of our street with members of the Aire Valley Water Trust creating more leaky dams, so today I took a walk up there to have a look.

There are already two dams in place on the beck but they are very well camouflaged now as they have become overgrown, so it was good to capture these before they meld in to the surrounding landscape.

The idea is to build these on lots of small streams which feed into the River Aire, to stem the Winter floodwater and so reduce the chances of flooding in the valley.

Euan is three today and we were awoken early by a video message from him reminding us.  Since then we've had pictures of him excited about his cake at nursery and his first attempts on his new bike with pedals.  It looks like the balance bike was a good investment as he was managing very well, despite a little lack of confidence.  I think it might be a late to bed night tonight with all that excitement and cake!
