Pagan

Happy Birthday Euan, 2 today!

I think the Indian Summer we were hoping for on our holiday took place yesterday!  The forecast for the rest of the week is wet, wet, wet.  Nevertheless, it will not stop us getting out and about and having lots of down time.

We had booked to join a hill trip to visit the Cairngorm Reindeer this morning, so several layers donned we drove to Glenmore, checked in and then continued up to the Sugarbowl carpark to meet the reindeer leaders.  The Cairngorm road was awash and the Allt Mor stream cascading noisily down the valley as we crossed the bridge with the rest of our group.  It is rutting season so the herd has been split in to several groups, one for breeding.  In this way the numbers in the herd are kept at about 150.   The reindeer not in the breeding group range across the Cairngorms and that includes Becky's adopted Wapiti.  Euan's newly adopted reindeer Texel was away over on the foothills, just in sight but not close enough to capture with the camera.  So my blip is of Jenny's reindeer, Pagan, in the breeding paddock in the rain..

Back down from the hill we paid a visit to the Reindeer Centre to pick up some postcards and then drove in to Aviemore to lunch at Route 7.

Back here at the cottage we are having a restful afternoon as the showers go through, watching 12 Angry Men (I had forgotten how well written it is) and the red squirrel munching nuts on the deck.
