Andy Fell Memorial Trophy

You may remember back in July my friend and neighbour of 27 years sadly lost a battle against a brain tumour that had returned after major illness nineteen years ago.

It was a big shock to us all.

Andy was a keen member and chairman of Bedworth & Exhall Camera Club and had been so for many years. Last February his health was beginning to trouble him so he resigned his position and I was elected to replace him. It was difficult news to break to all the membership when I had to pass on the bad news.

At the AGM this February, the club members unanimously voted for a memorial trophy in his name, and, specifically, for the medium Monochrome prints - something Andy loved doing. His style was unmistakeable with emphasis on dark brooding skies.

Having had the motion approved, the club bought this trophy which will be used in the first competition - Mono Landscape.

Tonight I took the trophy around for Pauline, Andy's widow and their son Owen, for both of them to look at. Pauline was really pleased with this, and, I have to agree, it is a very substantial and lovely piece. Pauline suggested that it be filled with Andy's favourite tipple - red wine. Very suitable for a claret jug.

Pauline was also pleased to come along in November for the first competition and to present the trophy on it's first award.
