Autumn sunshine

We made the most of a mild dry day to have a walk in the woods around Barkbooth. We have a secret location for chanterelles and we’re hoping to find some.
But when we started the walk it was apparent that the forestry people had been in! There were huge stacks of trunks and ruts so big that Pepper had to swim!
Anyway we pressed on and Pepper picked up the path for us. There was the normal wasteland of bare ground and stumps and I was sure all was lost, but we had a look around the only remaining growing tree and remarkably, there were chanterelles underneath!! We collected a good bag full, leaving plenty to spread spores.
A few found their way into the frying pan with a bit of butter - delicious!!
