Jesus

Glorious day - walked through Cambridge in warm Autumn sunshine amid chattering freshers and stopped at the peaceful grounds of Jesus College.  Admired the plumbago and the dahlias before looking at the chapel. There’s been campaign to get rid of the plaque about the slaver who founded the college which ended in court and a new plaque beneath discussing the foundation of his wealth and a leaflet,  which seems a small price to pay. We should all be better informed.  I recommend a BBC programme still on iPlayer called Art that Made,  us especially the one about Georgian England and the huge influx of wealth that gave us so many lovely buildings and art.  Built of course on the back of expansion, sugar and slavery.
