Nature Diary... A splendid start to a lovely day

The morning looked decidedly undecided... Would the sun break through or would the clouds win the day?

Gradually the gentle battle began and a shower of rain soaked me as I was putting out the plants which had been sheltering indoors overnight.

Eventually though the sun won and heated up everything which had become very chilled,  and thankfully it continued shining brightly all day.

In the nearby farmland the fields had all recovered magnificently after their scorching shock in the summer, as had the trees, some of which are now starting to lose their summer leaves.

The cows and their healthy calves just carried on in their normal, peaceful way, as did I, thankful to have had yet one more warm, sunny day, and hoping for more to come.
