Fun in the kitchen

Mr MacD had sourdough preparation first thing this morning, then he very kindly went to pick up some bottles of milk for me to make Feta cheese and more yoghurt, while I caught up with some household chores and some personal computer work. When he returned, I started on the Feta-making process.  It’s not too time-consuming, just spread over a number of hours. Mr MacD had mixing and folding of the sourdough during the day, and also managed to get out in the garden for an hour or so before rain drove him back inside. With the sourdough and Feta at a stage they could be left, we went over to spend an hour with Mum. After returning home we prepared a simple supper of sautéed potatoes with homegrown spinach, kale and broad beans, plus an omelette with homemade Halloumi.  Delicious!

An icy blast is making its way up the country, straight off the Antarctic ice shelf.  There was even snow in the lower half of the South Island.  Winter has returned, hopefully only briefly.

Our supper is shown in the blip, along with the Feta and the sourdough loaves (all tucked up) ready to go into the fridge overnight.  The Feta will be put into a brine in the morning and the loaves will be baked.
