The Footbridge near downtown Blenheim….

……early this morning. The area of Marlborough in the vicinity of Blenheim escaped the predicted overnight Antarctic wintry blast. It was misty along the river and a little chilly. There was a smattering of snow visible on The Ned, a mountain on Tempello Station to the south of Blenheim. Other areas in New Zealand had extremely unseasonal snowfalls, some dramatic scenes delighting many people but disrupting travel on roading systems and also very worrying for landowners concerned for vulnerable stock. We may well have a heavy frost here overnight which will be of great concern to grape-growers. Keep warm my friends.
