Time for Tain

And a Tain miscellany. This ranges from a couple of Tain's lovely individual shops, through a cove memorialised in the local civic gardens for being .... generally a good cove, I assume .... to someone who has serious hoarding problems. Mostly taken on a quick afternoon wander across the town to pick up a few things. All this came after a very early but smooth journey up here, after an early start. The early start in turn necessitated an early night, but we were snug because we've got two hot water bottles and had them in the bed all day! The place always feels very cold when we first arrive, but as we live in it for a few days, it gradually warms up. We'd also conducted a little experiment of working out how much it would cost to leave the fridge freezer on, and the answer seems to be just over a unit a week. That seems affordable. And that included our neighbour using the electricity to cut the grass (see below).

I could have included a photograph of our brown bin to remind myself that I need to sign up for garden refuse collection. Our neighbour very kindly gave the small patch of grass a light haircut whilst we were not here, but then she dropped the bag of grass into the normal refuse bin (sssshhh) and then put a bag of her ordinary refuse on top, to confuse the bin men. She's extraordinarily subversive. It made me laugh. Anyway, I need to do things properly.
