Red-bellied Woodpecker

Winging early this morning this male red-bellied woodpecker flew onto the palm tree and started hiding the red fruit or nut in the hole away from the blue jays. These in turn are constantly hiding the same type of nut but burying them in the soft ground under the base of the palm trees here in the garden. If you zoom in you can see the nut in the hole.

To get any sort of clear shot I have to be outside the pool enclosure/lanai but this is easier said than done as any movement outside sends them flying off. This morning I had a failed attempt at placing the nuts where I could get a shot but they weren't having any of it.
