Tiny chrysanthemum

Last year I bought a couple of trays of chrysanthemum from the supermarket for some insta colour in the balcony. Three plants survived and thrived. The rest shrivelled up once they'd finished flowering. This is the first of them actually to flower. It has a profusion of buds, but the flowers seem likely to be very small. It was catching the last of the evening light poking around the side of the building when I went out to photograph it.

After working at home during the day, we travelled across the city to Marchmont for a birthday party. Here's one of the birthday people in the extras receiving her cake. We were some of the few non-Spanish speaking people there, so a lot of the chatter passed us by. I'd originally intended for us to get a bus back (as well as a bus there...), but we left too late for that. Luckily a taxi turned up as we walked down to Tollcross. I've heard such horror stories about getting taxis on the streets in the evening, so we were not looking forward to the possibility of having to walk home, or wrestle with the night bus....
