Pottering

I spent part of the morning emptying containers ready for bulb planting. I was watched closely, and joined, by this robin.

I have read that robins habit of coming in close when people are gardening may reflect an evolved behaviour of following wild pigs and boar as they feed, shuffling their snouts through soil and leaf litter, the robins picking up titbits along the way. We are not so far from pigs in our behaviour as we might imagine.
