Ablaze with Fall colour

Wednesday October 5
Today, we drove west to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. We started at Lake of the Clouds (top left), where we walked from the view point at the upper level down to water level. The morning was somewhat overcast, though still quite warm, but as you can see from the rest of my collage, the sun finally broke through and gave us a gorgeous afternoon and early evening. We enjoyed our sandwiches at a picnic table by the car park, before driving on to a second area of the park, Summit Peak, lower images, with amazing views over the trees towards Lake Superior in the distance, lower right. Our final destination for the day was the Presque Isle area of the park and it’s series of waterfalls on the Presque Isle river, by which time the light was beginning to fade.
