Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Road trip day 2

We left lots of time today to do what we felt like.  Took a walk in port Townsend, looking at the marina point Hudson we have spent many a night in our old sailboat waiting to cross the straits.to Canada…now they are redoing the breakwater so it’s empty!  Near the wooden boat center and the rowing club..watched and talked to some rowers…that water ( altho calm today,) does not appeal…nor the wet launches!   Drove west, stopped to look at some indigenous art, then from Port Angeles, after lunch and check in, we drove up the Sol Duc  river road into Olympic national park… the goal was to possibly walk to sol duc falls and we did start on the trail that is only. .8 mile…. But it was almost 4pm …I’m slow, the trail was good but lots of rocks and roots so we decided to just enjoy the fabulous old growth forest and not risk it.  We did spend time watching the coho salmon jump up the river to their spawning grounds after spending their lives in the Pacific Ocean…. Hard to catch but there is one in the photo collage .. And in the extra is the best fish!   Drove past lake crescent and good colors and then now are relaxing in our motel with the view out our window at sundown. Off in the haze is Vancouver island, Canada.   A little cooler today.
Going to mark the map where the fish were…way up the river..who knows how much farther they had to go…
