Splitting logs

It seems this winter could be strange, one best prepared for. Electricity is going to be expensive but we are in the fortunate position of being able to afford that. However, by using less we'll be helping keep the price down for others in a less fortunate position. Then there's the problem of electricity cuts. No-one knows if they'll happen but if they do we'd look a bit silly sitting in a cold house while surrounded by forest!
On top of those practical thoughts is the fact that the woodburner is just very cosy and fun to use!
So, it's time to split logs, some for use this winter, and some to be dried through the winter and next summer, ready for 2024. The ones in the picture are for use this coming winter.  I'll be doing more of this in the next couple of weeks!
