Sewerby Hall

Canal walks and cranes,
railway bridge, pygmy goats, sea
and beautiful light.

Didn't sleep well.  Ben's bloods alarmed as high at midnight so I spent a merry couple of hours monitoring them with his continuous glucose monitor (viewed on my phone through bluetooth) and trying to bring them down with insulin from his pump, delivered via bluetooth through the wall so I didn't go into his room and wake him.  Bit of a palaver but anything to try and keep him asleep.  Crazy to think how good the technology is.. and yet it still requires so much human intervention.  I was happy enough that they were coming down by about 2am and went back to sleep.  Then he woke up at 3am, needed a wee and then decided he couldn't go back to sleep :-/ He hasn't done that for a while so I was a bit fed up.  He fetched me a few times but overall he was quite good about it.  I gave him his iPad at 5:30 and we've just about made it through to bedtime now without falling over.
Mr KCNQ2Haiku had a bike ride whilst Ben and I popped to the shops and to see the canal.  It is such pretty light at the moment, it's particularly nice  against the red brick of the industrial buildings by the canal.  Walked back over a railway bridge and were lucky enough that a train went under, that was a sensory win for Ben, he was happy.
Sent a happy birthday message to those who are experiencing a special day <3
Had a family lunch and then Ben, Mr KCNQ2Haiku and I went off to Sewerby Hall and Gardens for a stomp.  It was a bit mixed, Ben was very wired, so we just had a feeling that he was going to blow.  He was pushy and argumentative, so it was hard too keep everything under control and we didn't really get to mooch.. but when do we?!?  It was a nice site though, house was laid out in Victorian style for visitors to explore, there was a little zoo with pygmy goats and llamas, donkey and parrots etc.  Since Ben was on edge we tried to avoid the crowds and walk around the grounds.  The house overlooks the sea which is lovely and the golf course was closed so we wandered around a bit and found this sort of dome/gazebo/temple type structure.  Home for tea and hopefully a better night's sleep!
