A Place toTalk

Home without incident. Our seats awaited us on the 10:30 out of Kings Cross. That clever LNER app lets you choose them. Forward facing, on the right hand side so we can see the sea when we get up Northumbria way. Sadly it doesn’t show which seats are behind window pillars.
So, the final Hearts home game of the great European adventure of 2022. By kick off we already knew we weren’t going to proceed to the knock out stages as Fiorentina had beaten the Turks in the early kick off. AJ and I took a bit of it in as we stood in the Tynecastle Arms with a pre-match refreshment. He’d needed a pint he told me, so I made haste. Out the blue it’s been a bad week for him as a good friend GD has rapidly gone downhill. And his friend’s CK's wife is similarly afflicted, which is tragic as CK has been greatly struggling of late. It’s just old age, we said grimly to each other. That’s what it’s like. I used to think we’d all get old together and then we’d all go, together, almost. But it’s much sadder than that, we just slowly thin out.
