A Local Walk

Today we walked out from home and took the longer circuit through the forest. Charl and Mike are both keen birdwatchers so they always have their binoculars at the ready. Within 50 m of home they had spotted, and shown me, a brambling, a bird I had never heard of before, far less identified. Otherwise the forest seemed busy with small birds and fieldfares, stuffing themselves with seeds and berries in preparation for winter (the various tits) or migration (fieldfares).
In the extra you can see the view they were studying.
