Vines and grapes

Since 2020 large areas of the scarp slope of the North Downs around here have been planted with vines by Chapeldown and Nyetimber. These vines were planted in the summer of 2020 and this is the first time we’ve seen any grapes on them. It’ll be another three years or so before the first harvest.

The temperature hit 22.2c in the shade this afternoon, it’s still 17c out there now. It was like a summer afternoon out walking, although by late afternoon you could tell that it wasn’t mid summer!

Thank you those who participated in yesterday’s challenge. So far the heart goes to Campervan who suggested that the murial reflected the hallucinatory drugs scene in Maidstone. Another blipper said the empty shops in their High Street were going to be decorated with a Christmas theme.

That’s as good an idea as I saw in Brighton the other year when beach huts were numbered like an advent calendar and opened up to reveal a Christmas tableau. Great idea, no chocolate behind the doors though.

Clocks fall back tonight! That’ll mean having to fiddle with all the timers and the car clock. I wonder if the electric car is any smarter than the Skoda? Have a good evening
